NYRB II Hosts the Tampa Bay Rowdies in Eastern Conference Clash
April 23, 2022 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
New York Red Bulls II News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II (1-5-0, 3 points) will host the Tampa Bay Rowdies (3-1-3, 12 points) on Saturday, April 23. Kickoff at MSU Soccer Park is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
The match marks the 13th all-time meeting between the two clubs, with Tampa Bay holding the slight edge in the series. New York claimed the only postseason meeting, a 2-1 victory at Al Lang Stadium in 2017.
Red Bulls II will look to bounce back following a 1-0 defeat against Rio Grande Valley FC on Friday, April 15. Saturday's match will mark the fifth in seven to begin the season in which New York will face a club that qualified for the 2021 postseason.
Tampa Bay sits third in the Eastern Conference with 12 points, including wins over Indy Eleven, Atlanta United 2, and FC Tulsa. The club is coming off a 2-1 defeat to Orlando City SC in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, April 20.
Rowdies forward Jake LaCava, who is on loan from the New York Red Bulls, leads the team with three goals. LaCava will face Red Bulls II for the first time after scoring 11 goals and recording seven assists in two seasons with the club.
New York forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith, a Tampa Bay loan, will face his club for the first time as well. He scored four goals last season on the Rowdies' Eastern Conference champion roster.
Following the match, New York will conclude its April schedule with a trip to face Detroit City FC on Saturday, April 30, at Keyworth Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4:00 p.m. ET, with coverage available on ESPN+.
