Match Preview:
Oakland Roots return to El Paso the site of their 2021 USL Playoff upset. Last season Roots snuck into the playoffs on the last day of the season and were matched up against the side from West Texas in the first round. Oakland pulled off what some consider one of the biggest upsets in league playoff history when they knocked off the top seed 1-0 courtesy of a Jeremy Bokila goal late in the game.
El Paso is currently sitting on three points from their first six games having lost 1-0 at the weekend to San Antonio. The team is coached by John Hutchinson who took over for Mark Lowry ahead of the 2022 season.
Roots El Paso native Memo Diaz returns to his hometown and his former team with whom he featured on 12 occasions.
