New York Red Bulls II News Release
MONTCLAIR, NJ - New York Red Bulls II (1-5-0, 3 points) fell to Rio Grande Valley FC (2-4-0, 6 points) on Friday, April 15, at MSU Soccer Park.
After a scoreless first half, the chances started to come for both sides. The Toros struck for what became the only goal of the match in the 66th minute, as Emilio Ycaza slid in a low cross that found the foot of Frank López, who got just enough on the shot to get it across the goal line.
New York had a chance in the 79th minute from O'Vonte Mullings that was initially cleared by Rio Grande Valley, but a foul just outside of the box set up a Jeremy Rafanello free kick that had to be saved by the Toros.
Jesús Castellano made his Red Bulls II debut in the match, playing a full 90 minutes. Daniel Edelman made his season debut with the club, playing 69 minutes.
Following the match, New York will remain home to host the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, April 23. Kickoff from MSU Soccer Park is set for 1:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
