MONTCLAIR, NJ - New York Red Bulls II (3-21-5, 14 points) fell to Miami FC (13-8-8, 47 points) on Friday, September 9, at MSU Soccer Park.
New York opened the scoring in the 10th minute, as Jordan Adebayo-Smith scored off a Miami turnover just outside of their penalty box.
Miami leveled the match in the 19th minute, as Joaquin Rivas converted a feed from Lamar Walker. Seven minutes later, Rivas struck again following a scramble in the box after a free kick.
Kyle Murphy scored in the 31st minute after a corner kick and loose ball in the box. He converted a penalty kick in the 45th minute, and Miami added one more before the half on an own goal.
In the 72nd minute, Josh Peréz played a ball across the box to Christian Sorto, who sent in a shot. Sorto found Peréz in the 84th minute to add the final goal in the match.
The goal for Adebayo-Smith was his team-leading sixth of the season. Yostin Salinas made his Red Bulls II debut, playing the full 90 minutes.
Following the match, New York will travel to face Oakland Roots SC for the first time in club history on Saturday, September 17. Kickoff at Laney College Football Stadium is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. ET with coverage available on ESPN+.
