
Nuts Take Series Opener 4-2 in Ten Innings

Visalia, CA. - After falling behind early, the Modesto Nuts came back to win 4-2 in ten innings against the Visalia Rawhide at Recreation Park on Thursday night.
With the game tied in the tenth, Ryan McMahon gave the Nuts (50-46; 17-9) the lead when he whacked a RBI double to score Michael Benjamin, Jr. Drew Weeks followed with a RBI single to pad the Nuts' advantage against Rawhide (60-35; 19-7) reliever Mason McCullogh (L, 4-1).
Matt Carasiti (S, 10/12) tossed a perfect tenth with a pair of strikeouts.
Johendi Jiminan started for the Nuts and threw well after giving up two, first-inning runs. He settled in after that and retired 11 in a row from the second through the fifth innings before getting out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning to keep the game tied.
The Nuts had evened the game in the top of the seventh on Rosell Herrera's RBI double, his third hit of the game. Raimel Tapia recorded a RBI single in the fourth, one of three hits for the Nuts' leadoff man.
Game two of the four-game series against the Rawhide is Friday night at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 6:55 p.m.
