
Nuts' Streak Ends at Five

Modesto, CA. - Three early runs were enough to end the Modesto Nuts five-game winning streak with a 3-2 defeat to the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
Austin Hutchison (L, 1-2) surrendered a walk and a double in the first inning. With two outs, in the first, Logan Landon singled home two runs to put the Quakes (62-44; 27-9) on top; a lead they would not relinquish.
In the second, the Quakes pushed across a second run with a double steal. That was all for the Quakes' offense. Hutchison worked five innings and allowed three runs on six hits with five strikeouts.
Isaac Anderson (W, 6-5) stayed sharp against the Nuts (44-62; 14-22) with seven strong innings. Kevin Santa started the fourth inning with a double. He scored on Nick Zammarelli's RBI single.
The Nuts pulled within one when Luis Liberato slammed a solo home run in the seventh inning. Anderson allowed just two runs on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk.
Nolan Long (S, 3/3) tossed a perfect ninth for the Quakes.
