Modesto, CA. - Dan Altavilla shutdown the Modesto Nuts for the Bakersfield Blaze to send the Nuts to a 3-2 loss on Thursday night at John Thurman Field.
Altavilla (W, 3-6) tossed seven innings and struck out eight without walking a batter. The lone run scored on Raimel Tapia's two-out single in the fifth.
Antonio Senzatela (L, 4-4) had a hiccup in the third allowing two hits and a pair of runs to score. The righty worked five frames and allowed just the two runs while striking out five and walking two.
Aaron Brooks (S, 1/1) tossed the final two innings for the Blaze and struck out five.
The Nuts go for the series victory on Friday night in the finale of the four-game series against the Blaze.
