
Nuts Fall 6-2 in Series Opener

Modesto, CA. - A four-run third sent the Modesto Nuts to a 6-2 loss against the Visalia Rawhide on Friday night at John Thurman Field.
Johendi Jiminian (L, 4-10) gave up three straight hits to start the third leading to two runs. Kevin Cron followed with a two-run shot to give the Rawhide (80-51; 38-23) a lead they would not relinquish. Jiminian tossed five-plus innings and allowed nine hits and six total runs.
With the loss, the Nuts (65-66; 32-29) remain two games back of a playoff spot with nine game to play.
The Nuts collected eight hits, all singles, but plated just two runs because they went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Nick Sariandides (S, 25) recorded the final out with the tying run in the on-deck circle to record the save. Tom Jameson (W, 3-0) tossed 2.1 innings out of the bullpen and worked around four hits to keep the Nuts off the board.
Devin Burke tossed four shutout innings out of the bullpen and retired the first eleven he faced before giving up a two-out single in the ninth.
