MODESTO, CA (May 15th, 2013) -- Modesto put together their best offensive effort of the season, totaling six extra-base hits and a season-high nine runs en route to a 9-5 win over the Storm on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.

The Nuts jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after the first two innings, and cruised from there. Taylor Featherston led the charge with a two-hit, four-RBI game which included a bases-loaded clearing triple in the second.

Modesto starter Dan Winkler (5-1) turned in another strong effort, limiting the Storm to just four hits and two earned runs across six innings for the win. He has now allowed only 29 hits and 12 earned runs in 46 2/3 innings pitched this season.

Lake Elsinore starter John Hussey (0-1) couldn't escape the second inning, giving up six runs on six hits before exiting with two outs in the frame.

In the first, David Kandilas doubled and quickly scored on an RBI single from Featherston. After Will Swanner opened the second with a double and after a pair of walks from Hussey, Featherston cleared the bases on a triple into the right-field corner. Harold Riggins followed with a sac-fly to make it 6-0.

The Storm plated their only two runs against Winkler in the third on RBI singles from Travis Jankowski and Yeison Asencio. Winkler would only allow one hit the rest of the way, striking out his final five outs to finish with eight in the contest.

Swanner, who finished a season-best 3-for-4 with two doubles, also led off the third with a single and scored on a sac-fly from Kandilas.

In the sixth, Kandilas doubled and scored his third run of the game on an RBI double by Tyler Massey. Modesto added their final run in the eighth on a walk by Brian Humphries and an error by left-fielder Kyle Gaedele.

Lake Elsinore plated three runs in the final two innings against reliever Nick Schnaitmann.

The Nuts will try to make it two in a row in the series as they continue on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Tyler Gagnon (1-3, 6.69) will start for Modesto, opposite RHP Trevor Holder (0-0, 22.50) for the Storm.
