Soo Greyhounds News Release

The NHL's Edmonton Oilers announced Friday morning that DARNELL NURSE was among three player's re-assigned, meaning the Hamilton, ON product will be returning to the Soo Greyhounds.

The 6'4", 205-lb rearguard has played in two regular season games with the Oilers to start 2014-15. During that time he had two shots, a combined forty-nine shifts and over thirty-three minutes of play with the Oilers.

"Through his time in exhibition and the early going of the regular season in the NHL, Darnell has shown that his game has progressed greatly over the last year through his tireless drive to improve and develop. Together with the Oilers we will continue to work with him to take that next step to what will undoubtedly be a lengthy NHL career" began Greyhounds Head Coach Sheldon Keefe.

In returning to the Hounds, the Hamlton, ON product will be entering his 4th season with the Hounds. He is expected to arrive in Sault Ste. Marie Tuesday and join his Greyhounds teammates for practice.

"Any of our excitement to have him back is tempered by the disappointment we feel for Darnell who we know worked extremely hard to be prepared to play in the NHL this season but it goes without saying that his return is a great boost to our program both on and off the ice" said Keefe.

One year ago Nurse tallied 13 goals and 37 assists in the regular season, good for 50 points, the most for any Greyhound defenceman.

He would later lead the team with 8 points (3g, 5a) in the playoffs as the Hounds advanced to the Western Conference semi-finals.

At the conclusion of the Greyhounds season, Nurse joined the Oiler's AHL affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons, for 4 games.
