
NSC Minnesota Stars Players to Participate in Date Auction Thursday

BLAINE, Minn. (June 7, 2011) - Ever dreamed of a night out with your favorite Star' Thursday's your chance.
Fifteen members of the NSC Minnesota Stars will take the stage as part of The Man Auction, an event sponsored by KDWB 101.3 FM and Virgin Mobile. The Bayview Event Center, 687 Excelsior Blvd. will host the evening's festivities. All proceeds from the 6 p.m. event benefit KDWB morning host Dave Ryan's charity, Dave Ryan's Christmas Wish, which helps bring holiday to cheer to families in need throughout the Twin Cities.
The 21+ party begins at 6 p.m, emceed by Ryan's Morning Show co-host Lena Svenson. The auction itself begins at 7 p.m. Up for bid are 15 Stars players, with the winners joining the players for a group dinner cruise on Lake Minnetonka aboard one of Bayview's luxurious Queen of Excelsior yachts. In addition to dates with Stars players, the auction will have other items up for grabs, including a cruise for 15 around Lake Minnetonka on Bayview's rare Lyman Daycruiser, "Escape." After the auction, guests are invited to dance the night away outside to live music and great drink specials.

Sweetwater Grille & Bar to Host Screening of Jay DeMerit Documentary
Sweetwater Grille & Bar, one of two official US Soccer Bars in the Twin Cities will host a screening of "Rise and Shine: The Jay DeMerit Story." The film, which chronicles US National Team defender Jay DeMerit's journey through the lower leagues of English soccer all the way to the Premier League and World Cup. The Green Bay, Wisc., native is currently the captain of Major League Soccer's Vancouver Whitecaps.
"Rise and Shine" won an award at the 2011 Canada International Film Festival, and now the film's producers are raising money to pay for the rights to Premier League and World Cup highlights in order to release the documentary worldwide. Saturday's 4:30 p.m. screening is part of the filmmakers' Kickstarter fundraising effort. While the screening is free, viewers are asked to make a donation to the project. Donations can also be made online by visiting Kickstarter.com and searching "Rise and Shine." The screening will be followed by the United States' Gold Cup group stage match against Panama.
