FC Edmonton News Release
Edmonton, AB. *- FC Edmonton have an opportunity to edge three points closer to the league leaders when the Carolina RailHawks come to town on Friday night (7:30 p.m./www.fcedmonton.com).
The last time the two teams faced each other the RailHawks handed FC Edmonton their first loss of the NASL season in Cary, NC.
Edmonton was shut out in that match losing 2-0 and the league's leading goal scorer and Player of the Month for April and May, Etienne Barbara, opened the scoring in that contest. Barbara has been on a tear this season scoring 12 goals and adding five assists in 10 games.
The RailHawks lead the league with 25 points; FC Edmonton sit in third with 16 but have a game in hand.
FC Edmonton's Kyle Porter leads his team with four goals in six league games and was the runner up to Barbara for this month's Player of the Month honours.
*OTHER FACTS:*
- FC Edmonton's Rein Baart will miss the game because of a red card he received against Montreal on Saturday. Lance Parker will start in his place.
- Carolina's Etienne Barbara has scored more than half of his team's goals this season (12 of 22). The forward will celebrate his 29thbirthday on game day.
- With a win on Friday, FC Edmonton can leapfrog the NSC Minnesota Stars into 2nd place behind the RailHawks.
