BLAINE, Minn. (July 29, 2010) - The NSC Minnesota Stars take to the road again this weekend for the second match of a three-game roadtrip. The Stars take on AC St. Louis at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Anheuser-Busch Soccer Park.

The teams have already played three closely contested matches in Minnesota this season. On May 29, Neil Hlavaty scored a last-minute game winner as the Stars twice came from a goal behind to snatch a 3-2 win. AC St. Louis got revenge on June 22, beating the Stars 1-0 in the second round of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The teams played most recently on July 14, a game the Stars trailed 2-0 before scoring twice in the last five minutes to salvage a 2-2 tie.

"It's good for the fans that we've played exciting games with St. Louis this year," Stars head coach Manny Lagos said. "Entering the season, we thought a rivalry with St. Louis would develop based on geography, but to have it develop on the field is much better."

The Stars enter the match on the heels of three consecutive draws, a streak that started against St. Louis. Since that match, St. Louis is 2-2-0 and has won back-to-back league games for the first time in its history. Those wins have seen the club leapfrog Miami FC and Crystal Palace Baltimore to move into fourth place in the NASL Conference of the USSF Division 2 Pro League. The Stars remain in fourth place in the league's USL Conference, but the points dropped from tying could prove costly as the team pushes for one of eight playoff spots.

In its most recent match, NSC Minnesota tied the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-1 in Burnaby, British Columbia, last Sunday. Simone Bracalello opened the scoring for the Stars with his first goal of the season, but the Whitecaps' pressure paid off in the second half as they equalized thanks to Martin Nash. St. Louis defeated the Portland Timbers 3-0 on Wednesday night courtesy of a hat-trick by Mike Ambersley, who leads the club with six goals in 2010.
