
Novant Health and Charlotte Independence Team up to Vaccinate Players, Coaches, and Staff

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) - Charlotte Independence and Novant Health, the Official Health and Wellness Provider of the USL Championship side, teamed up this week as Novant Health officials administered the first round of COVID-19 vaccines to Independence players, coaches, and front office staff.
Eligibility in North Carolina is currently open to everyone 16 years of age and older. Independence's players will receive their second shots in three weeks,
Throughout the pandemic, Novant Health has remained an industry leader in its commitment to slowing the spread of COVID-19. Novant Health has distributed nearly 16,000 equity doses at community pop-up events where 67% of attendees identify as a member of a racial or ethnic minority. To date, Novant Health's vaccination rate for Asian and Black patients at community events is three times that of the general North Carolina vaccination rate.

The Independence will make the 2021 campaign its first season at the brand new American Legion Memorial Stadium. The $40 million entire rebuild of the historic venue which began last September is close to completion and is set to open a new chapter for the Jacks.
Located in Uptown Charlotte, the new venue will have a capacity of 10,500 including standing area, and the type of amenities that have become standard at new venues across the Championship in recent years. Among them, a first for the Independence, will be a full video scoreboard and views of the surrounding city skyline that will make for a memorable experience on game-nights and at other events.
