
Nourislamov and Gornick Back From AHL

SAN DIEGO â The San Diego Gulls have been assigned defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov and left-winger Brian Gornick from the American Hockey League's Syracuse Crunch for the 2004-05 season, head coach Martin St. Amour announced on Thursday. Per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Nourislamov, 22, returns for a second year with the Gulls after notching 10 points (1 goal, 9 assists) in 32 games last season, his first in the pros. He ranked third among San Diego defensemen in 2003-04 with a +13 plus/minus rating and earned a career-high three assists on March 26 at Idaho. Prior to his rookie stint, the 6-foot-1, 200-pound native of Togliatti, Russia spent three seasons in juniors (QMJHL) where, in his last season (2002-03) he recorded 10 goals and 24 assists.
Gornick, 24, comes back to San Diego after splitting 2003-04 with the Gulls and the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. The 6-foot-5-inch, 210-pound native of St. Paul, Minn. joined the Gulls for 21 games of last season (including playoffs), earning 24 points (9g, 15a) and ending the year with a six-game assist streak and a three-game goal-scoring streak. Gornick spent his collegiate career at Air Force, where he was named College Hockey America's Student-Athlete of the Year (2001-02) and earned Academic All-American (2001-02) and First-Team All-CHA (2000-01) honors. The left-winger was a ninth-round pick of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
The Gulls have two preseason games scheduled against the Long Beach Ice Dogs: Friday Oct. 17 at Glacial Gardens Skating Arena in Long Beach at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 17 at the San Diego Ice Arena in Mira Mesa (about 17 miles from the San Diego Sports Arena) at 5:30 p.m.
Tickets to Sunday's game will be $7 for general admission and $5 for Gulls season ticket holders. Gulls season ticket holders can purchase their tickets in advance at the Sports Arena Administration Office (please ask for Greg Olmen).
