Brockton Rox News Release
Brockton, MA (February 15, 2008) - Former Brockton Rox Manager Ed Nottle is returning to the Can-Am League for his second stint. The original manager of the Rox in 2002, Nottle will be the first to manage the league's newest Canadian addition in Ottawa. Nottle managed the Rox for four seasons, including the 2003 Northeast League Championship team.
"We're very excited to have Ed back in the league," said Rox owner Van Schley. "Can-Am League Commissioner Miles Wolff came to me when it became evident that there would be a managerial position open in Ottawa, and I recommended that Ed lead that organization in its first year. He has a familiarity with the Can-Am League and a great history in minor league baseball."
Nottle has managed in the minors for over 25 years. His resume includes stops in 8 different states during his career with more than 1,300 wins. In 1981, Baseball America named him the Minor League Manager of the Year, and the Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year while he was with Tacoma (Wash.). In 1987, while managing the Pawtucket Red Sox, he was named the International League Manager of the Year.
Nottle will return to Campanelli Stadium for the first time since 2005 when the Rox host Ottawa for a three-game series beginning on Tuesday, June 10th. Ottawa returns to Brockton in late August for a four-game series from August 25 - 28th.
Opening Night for the Rox is Saturday, May 24th against the Nashua Pride. On Opening Night, the Rox will welcome the one millionth fan to Campanelli Stadium. Brockton Rox season tickets, mini plans, and group outings are currently on sale. Reserve your seats today by calling the Rox Ticket Office at (508) 559-7000.
