Reno Silver Sox News Release
The Reno Silver Sox didn't exactly start off the second half on the right foot tonight, losing to the first half champion Chico Outlaws, 12 - 6.
Everything was looking alright for the Silver Sox going in the fourth inning, however it started to fall apart in the fifth. Tied 3 - 3, the Outlaws scored two runs in the top of the fifth off of Silver Sox starter Jason Martinez. Martinez finished the night pitching five innings, allowing five runs on five hits.
Relieving Martinez was pitcher Josh Evans. Evans couldn't stop the Outlaws onslaught either, allowing five runs himself. Evans pitched three innings, allowing eight hits, but also struck out four Outlaws.
Sent in to try and stop the Outlaws in the ninth was Adam Nikolic, but he was overwhelmed by the Outlaws as well. Nikolic allowed two runs off of three hits in the ninth, facing six batters in his inning of work.
The Silver Sox were led on offense by CF Victor Hall. Hall went 2-5, with one run scored and two RBIs.
The Silver Sox return to Peccole Park tomorrow night, July 20, to take on these same Chico Outlaws. Tomorrow night is also Spitz Sunflower Seed Night. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free bag of Spitz Sunflower Seeds.
