Evans was an instrumental piece of the Lions defense, as he led the Lions defense in tackles, and was named as the team's defensive MVP in 2017. As a defensive leader, Evans helped lead the Lions to a National Junior College National Championship Title. Evans eventually moved on to the University of Southern Mississippi, in Hattiesburg, Miss., where he played for two seasons. Evans transferred to Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La., for his final two seasons as a collegiate player. During his two-year stint at Nicholls State, Evans notched 96 total tackles, ten tackles for loss, three sacks and three passes defensed.
Evans received his bachelor's degree in liberal studies from Southern Miss, and worked on his master's degree at Nicholls State. Evans last participated in on the field action in 2022 at Nicholls State. Evans was also invited to a New Orleans Saints try out in April 2023.
Evans is originally from Waynesboro, Miss., where he attended Wayne County High School. Evans was inspired to play football as a kid by his father and growing up around the game. Regarding his inspiration to play, Evans stated, "It was like a bloodline thing; my dad played and couldn't take his playing career where he wanted to go. My dad brought me home a football and basketball one time, and I chose the football." Evans added to this by saying, "I also grew up with 13 brothers and sisters who inspired me to play, so I was around football a lot." When asked what continues to drive Evans to play today, he stated, "Knowing that I have a lot left in the tank drives me. I was given a God gifted talent and I want my brothers, sisters, and daughters to see me finish what I started."
When asked about what he is looking forward to about joining the Wranglers, Evans stated, "I am excited to compete against new talent. I am the type of guy who loves to be surrounded by talented players to compete with." Evans also explained that he played high school football with Wranglers defensive end Tramond Lofton and looks forward to the potential of working with Lofton again.
What can Wranglers fans expect from Evans as a player? When asked, Evans responded by saying, "The fans can expect a hard-working guy who is a sideline-to-sideline type of player, and I will leave it all out there on gamedays. I will be an exciting player to watch, there will never be a dull moment." Evans closed his thoughts by saying, "I am definitely locked in and ready to work."
