
Northern Arizona Wranglers Sign Defensive End Dajor Davenport

Davenport joins the Wranglers for his first season in the Indoor Football League. Davenport spent his collegiate career at Concord University in Athens, W.Va. Davenport had a phenomenal senior season, posting 32 total tackles, 12 tackles for loss and eight sacks. Davenport earned a 2022 selection for the All-Mountain East Conference First Team as a senior. During that 2022 season, Davenport was tied for the third most sacks in the conference. Davenport only played his final two seasons at the defensive end position and finished with the third most sacks in Concord program history. Davenport earned his bachelor's degree in business, and his master's degree in health from Concord University.
Davenport is originally from Clifton Forge, Va., where he attended Alleghany High School. As far as his what inspired him to start playing football, Davenport stated, "As a kid, I played around with a football by myself in the yard, and it gave me a chance to hit people and not get in trouble for it." Davenport expanded on this by saying, "I wanted to play football but there was a lot of doubt around me, I was never the biggest, strongest or fastest kid growing up, I wanted to prove people wrong." What drives Davenport to continue playing today? Davenport said, "I want to be a better version of myself each and every day, on and off the field." Davenport expanded on this by saying, "I love football, I want my name to be remembered by not only who am as a player, but also who I am as a person."
When asked about what he is looking forward to about joining the Wranglers, Davenport stated, "I am looking forward to learning as much as I can about playing football from a professional aspect and in the IFL." Davenport added to this by saying, "I am excited for the opportunity to play for the coaches (in NAZ) and show that I can play football at a higher level." Davenport also stated, "I am looking forward to visiting Arizona for the first time and playing there."
What can Wranglers fans expect from Davenport on the field? Davenport stated, "The fans can expect a player who will give his all every day and the effort to be the best player he can be." Davenport added to this by saying, "I want to lead by example and help the community in any way that I can also, I am willing to meet people and become a contributing member of the local community."
