April 13, 2025 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Wranglers are hitting the road for their second game this season to take on the Bay Area Panthers in San Jose, Calif.
The Northern Arizona Wranglers are back in action this Sunday, April 13, as they head to the Bay Area to face off against the Panthers at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. Kickoff is set for 5:05 PM (AZ Time,) and will be broadcast exclusively on The IFL Network.
Coming off a bye week, the Wranglers (0-1) are looking to bounce back after a hard-fought season opener at home against the Fishers Freight. Despite the 41-29 loss, Northern Arizona showed flashes of their potential, highlighted by an early 14-0 lead and standout performances on both sides of the football. Quarterbacks CJ Fowler and Christian Arrambide each contributed big plays, with Fowler accounting for two total touchdowns. Running back Marvin Kinsey Jr. made his presence known with two rushing scores and a successful two-point conversion. Defensively, the Wranglers made timely stops but will aim to create their first turnover of the season this weekend. Wranglers defensive lineman Darius Johnson led the Wranglers with seven and a half total tackles last week, followed by defensive lineman Chizzi Umunakwe with six.
Sunday's contest marks the first meeting of the season between the Wranglers and the Bay Area Panthers (1-1). The Panthers are fresh off an impressive 41-18 victory over the San Diego Strike Force and look to continue their momentum at home. This matchup carries added intensity, as several former Wranglers-including 2024 IFL Offensive Rookie of the Year quarterback Josh Jones-now play for the Panthers. In addition, former Wranglers coaches Rob Keefe, Les Moss, and Rod Windsor now lead the Bay Area sideline, setting up an intriguing reunion and a strategic chess match against Northern Arizona's new coaching staff.
The Wranglers are led by Head Coach Ron James, Offensive Coordinator Siaha Burley, Defensive Coordinator Larry Hendrix, and DL/LB Coach Mikell Mair. Northern will be well-prepared for a competitive battle in enemy territory. With both playoff implications on the line, and history between the two organizations this game is expected to deliver high energy and thrilling action. The Wranglers and Panthers have a recent history of going back and forth, with each team winning two of the last four meetings. With a brand-new season upon us, the change within each organization intensifies this rivalry. Despite all the history that ties into this game, the Wranglers focus will remain going 1-0 this week and the lights are not too bright for either team.
Who will this Sunday during this intense matchup in the Bay Area? Tune in to watch the game exclusively on The IFL Network. The Wranglers focus is to get a victory on the road against the Panthers. The Wranglers will also feature their own pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage from the voices of your Wranglers, James Poovey and Ed Cole. Before tuning into The IFL Network for the game, watch the Wranglers pregame coverage from the Wranglers YouTube channel. Following Sunday's game, the Wranglers return home to Prescott Valley for their next matchup just six days later.
