BISMARCK, N.D., November 21, 2007 - The NBA Development League Champion Dakota Wizards announced today that North Dakota Governor John Hoeven has proclaimed Friday, November 23, 2007 Dakota Wizards Day in the state of North Dakota. Governor John Hoeven will be on hand Friday evening during the Wizards home opener to help with the championship celebration.
"This is a great honor", said Wizards General Manager Tom Wagganer. "We always look at this team as the Dakota Wizards not the Bismarck Wizards, so it's great to receive such a great state wide accolade".
"We are proud of the Dakota Wizards for the great work they do for the community on and off the basketball court and for bringing this national championship title home to Bismarck and all of North Dakota," Hoeven said. "We wish them all the best as they defend that title this season."
The Wizards are also offering a ticket discount for all North Dakota State employees for opening night. This promotion is good at the Bismarck Civic Center box office on the day of the game.
Also, newly hired President of the NBA Development League Dan Reed will be in attendance opening night to lend a hand with the raising of the Wizards championship banner during the pregame celebration ceremony.
"I'm very much looking forward to participating in this special day for the Wizards", said NBA Development League President Dan Reed. "Their D-League Championship was hard-fought and its great to see the community, the Governor, and the entire state show their support for the team. This honor is well-deserved".
