Mavericks Assign Fazekas To The Tulsa 66ers

Tulsa, Okla., November 21, 2007 -The Dallas Mavericks announced yesterday they assigned forward Nick Fazekas to the Tulsa 66ers, their NBA Development League Affiliate. Fazekas, the Mavericks' second-round selection in the 2007 NBA Draft (34th overall).

Fazekas saw action in two regular-season games with the Mavericks this season and will join the 66ers and his former college teammate - Bucks point guard Ramon Sessions for their regular season opener on November 23 in Fort Wayne against the Mad Ants

"The D-League provides young players with an opportunity to use what they have learned. It is the most athletic league in the world outside of the NBA. To have a chance to go up against that level of competition will be an important part of Nick's development," said Donnie Nelson, Mavericks President of Basketball Operations and General Manager.

A four-year starter at Nevada, Fazekas finished his collegiate career averaging 18.1 points and 9.6 rebounds. A 6-11 235-pound forward, Fazekas earned several post season accolades, including being named a consensus Second Team All-American and to the Wooden Award All-American Team during 2006-07, his senior season. As a junior he earned Third Team All-American honors from the Associated Press, and was named WAC Player of the Year. Additionally, he earned First Team All-WAC honors during his last three years at Nevada.

The Tulsa 66ers open their third home schedule on Friday, Nov. 30 against the Colorado 14ers. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. at the Expo Square Pavilion. Nineteen of the 66ers' 24 home games will be held on weekends, allowing Tulsa families the opportunity to see professional basketball when it best fits their schedules.
