North Carolina FC to Face FC Tucson on the Road Saturday

CARY, NC - Following a slate of back-to-back matches at their home stadium, North Carolina FC will hit the road to take on FC Tucson on Saturday, May 7 at 10 p.m. ET at Kino North Stadium in Tucson, AZ. The young squad has shown continued improvement , and will look to add their second win of the season in Saturday's contest. The match will stream live on ESPN+.

Last Time Out

North Carolina FC fell to the visiting Northern Colorado Hailstorm FC 2-1 last Saturday night. Forward Oalex Anderson added his first goal of the season during the contest, and Irvin Parra and Daniel Robles each added a goal apiece to secure three points for the visiting side. Between the two sides, ten yellow cards were administered, indicative of the physicality of the match through the full 90 minutes.

"I thought we were competitive throughout the game," said Head Coach John Bradford following the match. "It took us a little while to get going after the first ten minutes, and I thought we were the better team for the vast majority of the first half and created more dangerous chances in the second half. It's disappointing to not at least get a draw. We have a good mentality about us, being able to stay in the game, carve something out and get it back, so I was pleased with that."

North Carolina FC - #6 Gustavo Fernandes

A newcomer to the NCFC roster, Fernandes has quickly assumed an integral role in the starting XI and in the backline. Across four matches during the regular season, Fernandes has registered 14 clearances, one block, and three interceptions, while completing 176 passes and maintaining 84.6% passing accuracy. As NCFC aims to secure three points on the road for the second time this season, Fernandes will look to distribute the ball upfield to attacking trio Garrett McLaughlin, Jaden Servania, and Oalex Anderson while utilizing his precise footwork, passing technique and sweeping field vision to lead the North Carolina side to victory.

FC Tucson - #10 Deri Corfe

Now in his second season with FC Tucson, Corfe was a key component in the Arizona side's offense last year and looks to continue his dominance on the attack as the 2022 season progresses. The Chester, England native collected 2,011 minutes of playing time last season, scoring eight goals between the regular season and the USL League One playoffs, also adding an assist. Corfe has thus far recorded three appearances for FC Tucson this season, registering 202 minutes of playing time, a 100% success rate in tackles, and 82.9% passing accuracy. Currently sitting at 10th in the standings, Corfe will look to aid FC Tucson in obtaining their second win of the season and advance up the table.
