North Carolina FC Continue Unbeaten Streak with 3-1 Win Over Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. - North Carolina FC defeat the Richmond Kickers 3-1 at City Stadium. NCFC took the season series with a record of 2-0-1 and extend their undefeated streak to 10 matches. North Carolina FC sits top of the table with 44 points and a record of 13-4-5.

North Carolina came out in the first half strong when Jaden Servania hit a corner to Oalex Anderson who had a header deep into the net. Later in the half, Servania hit another near post ball that hit off the head of Gustavo Fernandes, that was called back due to a foul during the play. Servania recorded his first assist in the USL League One this season. The Kickers held NCFC to a 1-0 lead in the first half.

Only eight minutes into the second half North Carolina doubled their lead when Rafa Mentzingen put a through ball to Anderson's feet to shoot left footed through the Kickers defense and into the net, giving him a brace in tonight's match. However North Carolina FC were not done scoring yet, Mikey Maldonado hit a screamer into the upper 90's for his first goal of the season. Richmond would score moments later with a header from Simon Finch after a corner from Nil Vinyals. North Carolina would come out on top 3-1 and have now scored in their last 10 USL League One matches.

"I'm proud of the group for coming out strong tonight and putting together a solid performance on both sides of the ball. We were disappointed with only a draw 10 days ago and the guys definitely wanted to get all 3 points this time. All three goals were quality and we defended well, although we all would have preferred the clean sheet."

"Really excited to be back, had support from the guys the whole time, everyone was really focused and motivated to get three points coming back after losing points from Richmond 10 days ago. Overall whole team performance from front to back. Looking forward to being back at WakeMed at home in front of our fans and to keep everything moving forward. We are just focused on our next game one at a time."
