After coming off a National Women's Soccer League Challenge Cup Championship, the North Carolina started the first half of the season with a with a 2-5-4 record. North Carolina improved in the second half, going 7-3-1, but narrowly missing the postseason season by one point, finishing in seventh place. The top six NWSL teams qualify for the postseason.
