North Adams Beats Sanford in Final Meeting of Season

NORTH ADAMS, Mass - The Sanford Mainers traveled to take on the North Adams SteepleCats on Monday night at Joe Wolfe Field. The SteepleCats took the game by a final score of 7-2.

Luke Stephens (St. Joseph's College of Maine) made the start in his Sanford debut. In his first three innings, Stephens only allowed two baserunners on a hit and a walk with two strikeouts. He finished after 4.2 innings giving up a total of eight hits, five earned runs, one walk and two strikeouts.

North Adams got the scoring going in the fourth inning with one run, and four more in the fifth inning to open a 5-0 lead. Sanford got on the scoreboard on an RBI single by Derek Smith (Bryant) to bring in Dayne Leonard (West Virginia).

The Mainers scored another run in the seventh with an RBI single by Dom Freeberger (UNC-Asheville). The SteepleCats added on in the eighth to finish off the 7-3 win.

The Sanford Mainers travel to Lynn to take on the North Shore Navigators on Tuesday.
