Normal CornBelters Announce 2013 Schedule

Normal, IL - The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, have announced their 2013 schedule. From late May through early September, they will play 51 regular season home games at The Corn Crib. They will begin their fourth season in the independent Frontier League Friday, May 17 at the Evansville Otters. Their first home game will be Tuesday, May 21 versus the Windy City ThunderBolts at 7 p.m.
"It's an exciting time to be a CornBelters fan," said General Manager Kyle Kreger. "With a solid schedule, a new lineup of weekly promotions and adjusted game times, our fans are in for another fantastic season! More than ever before, we utilized the feedback from fans in making a lot of our scheduling decisions. When it comes to our weekly promotions, and game times, their opinions especially affected our train-of-thought."
The Frontier League will again consist of 14 total teams with two, seven-team divisions. The East Division consists of the Otters, Florence Freedom, Frontier Greys (travel team), Lake Erie Crushers, Southern Illinois Miners, Traverse City Beach Bums and Washington Wild Things. The West Division consists of the Gateway Grizzlies, Joliet Slammers, CornBelters, River City Rascals, Rockford RiverHawks, Schaumburg Boomers and ThunderBolts.
The CornBelters home schedule includes seven Tuesdays, eight Wednesdays, nine Thursdays, ten Fridays, nine Saturdays and eight Sundays. There are no Monday home games scheduled. Tuesday through Saturday games will begin at 7 p.m., and gates will open to the public at 6 p.m. Sunday games will begin at 6 p.m., and gates will open to the public at 5 p.m.
Tuesday home games will feature the CornBelters Reading Program. Participants can exchange their hard-earned vouchers at the Box Office for complimentary tickets (based on availability). Plus, kids can run the bases following the game! They are also "Twitter Tuesdays" with Twitter followers receiving exclusive offers the day of each game.
Dogs will run the show at Wednesday home games, and fans are encouraged to bring their four-legged friends to ballpark! In addition, they are "Web Wednesdays" with e-mail newsletter subscribers receiving exclusive offers the day of each game.
"Stay thirsty my friends!" Thursday home games will boast select $1 drinks, as well as other terrific drink specials. Bags of Beer Nuts peanuts and bar mix will also be available for $1 each. Fans are encouraged to start the weekend early and tailgate in The Corn Crib parking lot ahead of time. The lot officially opens at 5 p.m.
All Friday home games will be highlighted by themed, post-game fireworks shows presented by CEFCU! Besides the staff, fans are also encouraged to participate with each theme. They are also "Facebook Fridays" with friends receiving exclusive offers the day of each game.
Saturday home games will be presented by State Farm and feature new "Get to a Better Seat," and "Discount Double-Check," promotions. Random fans will be treated to select seat upgrades, and all fans can take advantage of a buy one, get one free offer on a select merchandise item at the Team Store (a different item will be announced each Saturday)!
Fans are encouraged to come to Sunday home games hungry, as they will boast delicious $1 hot dogs and corndogs. Fans can also get up close and personal with their favorite CornBelters players and coaches during a post-game, on-field autograph session!
