
Frontier League Announces 2013 Schedule

Sauget, IL - The Frontier League has released its schedule for the 2013 season, which will feature 14 clubs playing a 96-game, full-season format. Opening day for the 2013 season will be on Thursday, May 16, with the regular season concluding on Thursday, September 5.
New to the Frontier League for 2013 is the Frontier Greys. The Greys will be a traveling squad taking over for the Road Warriors team from 2012. The Road Warriors name and logo were loaned to the Frontier League by the Atlantic League to complete the 2012 season. The Greys will be using the name and logo of the former Zanesville Greys (attached), one of the founding members of the Frontier League and the first champions.
The 2013 regular season begins with two games on Thursday, May 16, as the Florence Freedom host the River City Rascals and the Schaumburg Boomers host the Windy City ThunderBolts. The Southern Illinois Miners will celebrate their 2012 championship at home against Windy City on Friday, May 17. Other opening weekend series feature the Evansville Otters hosting the Normal CornBelters, the Joliet Slammers hosting the Traverse City Beach Bums, the Lake Erie Crushers hosting the Gateway Grizzlies, the Rockford RiverHawks hosting the Greys, and Schaumburg hosting the Washington Wild Things.
The 2013 divisional alignment will remain the same, with Evansville, Florence, the Greys, Lake Erie, Southern Illinois, Traverse City, and Washington in the East and Gateway, Joliet, Normal, River City, Rockford, Schaumburg, and Schaumburg in the West.
The 2013 All-Star events will begin on Monday, July 15 and conclude with the All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 17. The host site for the game will be revealed later this fall.
Highlights of the 2013 schedule include the 20th anniversary of the first games in Frontier League history on June 30; championship series rematches on June 21-23 in Southern Illinois and August 23-25 in Florence; Traverse City's Welcome Home Celebration on July 4; and the Gateway Grizzlies' Greatest Night in Baseball on September 1.
The 2013 playoffs will begin on Saturday, September 7 at the ballparks of the two division winners. Game 5 of the Championship Series would be on Saturday, September 21.
Debuting in 1993, the Frontier League features teams in seven Midwestern states, stretching from Pennsylvania to Missouri and from Kentucky to northern Michigan. More information and the complete 2013 schedule can be found at www.frontierleague.com.
