Norm Gosselin to Join Phoenix Coyotes' Scouting Staff

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs President Wayne Long announced today that longtime staff member Norm Gosselin has left the organization to pursue a scouting career in the National Hockey League with the Phoenix Coyotes. Gosselin has been a member of the Sea Dogs' hockey operations department since the franchise first joined the QMJHL in 2005, serving as the team's Head Scout for four seasons prior to assuming the role of Director of Player Development on April 24, 2009.
"This is definitely a bittersweet day for us," says Long. "We're obviously sad to see Norm leave the Sea Dogs but we're thrilled that he's been given the opportunity to work in the National Hockey League. Norm is a first-class individual and he definitely deserves a lot of credit for our recent success. We wish him nothing but the best of luck with the Coyotes."
Gosselin will bring over twenty years of experience with him into his new role with the Coyotes. Formerly the General Manager and Head Coach of the Sherbrooke Castors/Lewiston MAINEiacs, Gosselin also worked for the Val-d'Or Foreurs, Shawinigan Cataractes, and Cape Breton Screaming Eagles during his lengthy career in QMJHL management/coaching.
With the Coyotes, Gosselin will be responsible for scouting junior-aged players in Quebec as well as the Maritime provinces. Phoenix General Manager Don Maloney is excited to be adding the Montreal, QC native to his staff.
"Norm has proven to be a strong evaluator of talent and will be an asset to our amateur scouting department," says Maloney, winner of the NHL's inaugural GM of the Year award in 2009-10.
