Norfolk Tides News Release

Norfolk rallied with five unanswered runs to knock off the Louisville Bats 7-4 Sunday afternoon at Harbor Park.

Trailing 4-2 in the seventh, the Tides plated three seventh inning runs against the Bats' bullpen to take the lead. Matt Antonelli pulled Norfolk within one run with an RBI single off of Carlos Fisher (0-1), and Jamie Hoffmann followed with a run-scoring double to tie the score. Antonelli then came in to score from third when Travis Webb uncorked a wild pitch, lifting Norfolk to a 5-4 lead.

Norfolk added to the lead in the eighth inning, as Bill Hall clubbed an opposite field solo homer before Blake Davis scored Ryan Adams with an RBI single.

Oscar Villarreal (2-0) earned the win after allowing a run on two hits in two innings of relief, while Zach Phillips tossed two perfect innings to register his second save of the season.

Norfolk starter Jason Berken allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits in five innings of work. He walked three and struck out four, throwing 49 of his 85 pitches for strikes.

Joe Mahoney had an RBI double in the fourth inning to extend his hitting streak to eight games.

The two clubs will wrap up their four-game set on Monday afternoon, with first pitch from Harbor Park set for 12:15. Chris Tillman (2-2, 5.30) will take the hill for Norfolk against right-hander Andrew Brackman (1-3, 8.82).
