
Norfolk Admirals Weekly: Admirals Prepare for a Trio of Divisional Road Games

NORFOLK, VA "" While things my be frozen across the Hampton Roads area, the East Division race will heat up this weekend as the Admirals hit the road for a three games in three-day slate beginning on Friday in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
Norfolk will travel to Syracuse to battle the Crunch on Saturday afternoon, and close things out for a Super Bowl Sunday matinee at Hershey beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Four-point swings will be in full effect this weekend, as four East Division teams are ranked in the top eight in the conference. The Admirals are 8-5-0-1 against East Division opponents this season, which includes a 6-2-0-0 divisional road record.

The Admirals (22-13-1-7, 52pts.) are currently third in the East Division, and sixth overall in the conference.

The Admirals have won 11 consecutive regular season games over the Penguins at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza dating back to the 2011-12 season. Norfolk is 3-0-0-1 against the Penguins this season. Tom Kostopoulos leads the Penguins in points (29) and goals (16), but was held scoreless in two games against the Admirals last weekend.

Syracuse has had its struggles as of late, having dropped the past five games. However, any team with Vladislav Namestnikov and Brett Connolly on its roster should not be taken lightly. SUNDAY AT HERSHEY
While the Super Bowl will take place on Sunday evening, Norfolk's battle with the Hersey Bears will make for a big game of its own on Sunday afternoon. Hershey has been one of the hottest teams in the AHL as on late, and are winners of five straight games. Former Admiral Brandon Segal leads the Bears in points (34), goals (13), assists (21). Segal played for Norfolk from 2007-2009. The Admirals have split a pair of games with the Bears up at the Giant Center this season.
