
Norfolk Admirals Weekly: Admirals Continue Homestand this Weekend

NORFOLK, VA - The Admirals continue their four-game homestand this weekend against the Syracuse Crunch. Norfolk enters the week after splitting a pair of games with the Hartford Wolf Pack last weekend.
Norfolk used a stellar goaltending performance from John Gibson to pick up a 1-0 shutout victory over Hartford on Friday. Chris Wagner scored the lone goal for the Admirals in the win. The game marked the fifth time the Admirals have shutout an opponent this season...Hartford got its revenge on Saturday, with a 3-1 victory over the Admirals to close out the weekend set.
STANDINGS UPDATE as of 02/10/14
The Admirals (25-15-1-7, 58pts.) are currently third in the East Division, four points back of first place Binghamton. Norfolk is eighth overall in the conference.

- The Admirals had an eight-game home unbeaten streak snapped on Saturday to Hartford. Norfolk posted a 6-0-0-2 record during that eight game stretch.
- The Admirals have played in a league high 18 overtime games, and 15 shootouts. - John Gibson's shutout victory last Saturday was the fourth of is career. He now shares the league lead for most shutouts this season (4).
- Norfolk's 14 shots on goal in Friday's 1-0 win over Hartford was a season low.
- Devante Smith Pelly played in his 100th game as an Admiral on Saturday.

ABOUT THIS WEEKEND'S MATCHUP WITH SYRACUSE
Syracuse has had its struggles as of late, having posted a 1-7-1-1 record in the last ten games. Norfolk holds a 4-2 record over the Crunch this season. However, three of the four Norfolk wins have been one-goal decisions. The road team has won every meeting this season. Explosive forward Vladislav Namestnikov has returned to the team after making his NHL debut with Tampa Bay on Saturday.
