Macon Mayhem News Release

Daniel Gentzler made the Fayetteville FireAntz pay in a big way.

His goal at 3:02 of overtime gave the Macon Mayhem a 4-3 victory in Fayetteville Thursday. The home team had promoted the game as "Guaranteed Win Night", promising fans a free ticket to the FireAntz game on December 27th (against Knoxville) if the FireAntz didn't win.

Gentzler bought 1,970 fans a ticket to that game. Gentzler and Matt Robertson had assisted on Austin Daae's (pronounced DOE) 5-on-3 power play goal in the third period that tied the game and forced the overtime. That was the only goal of the third period.

Shawn Skelly opened the scoring for the Mayhem at 5:36 of the first period. He later assisted on Vadim Guskov's goal that tied the game 2-2 in the first period, as well as Gentzler's game winner. Skelly's goal and two assists give him four goals and five assists for nine points in seven games with the Mayhem.

After his goal opened the scoring, Fayetteville answered by on markers by Joseph Manno and Berkley Scott, before Guskov tied the game at two.

Kyle Gibbons had the only goal of the second period giving Fayetteville a 3-2 lead at 13:33. But Guskov's tying goal, and then Gentzler's overtime winner kept Fayetteville from making good on its guarantee.

By scoring four goals, the Mayhem meet the Marco's three goal challenge. Fans who order on Friday from marcos.com will receive a 25% discount on their order by entering the promo code MAYHEM.

The same two teams meet Friday at the Macon Coliseum at 7:30 p.m. as the Mayhem play their first home game in three weeks and start a four game homestand.
