No. 5 Vipers to Play No. 3 Iowa Energy in Round One of the NBA D-League Playoffs

MCALLEN, Texas - The No. 5 Rio Grande Valley Vipers (30-20) are set to play the No. 3 Iowa Energy (31-19) in the first round of the 2013-14 NBA Development League Playoffs.
The series between the Vipers and Energy will tipoff with game one Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. (CT) at State Farm Arena. Then, the teams travel to Iowa to wrap up the series at Wells Fargo Arena. Game two will be held Saturday, April 12 at 7 p.m., and if necessary, game three will take place Monday, April 14 at 7 p.m.

The Vipers and Energy met four times during the 2013-14 regular season with Iowa holding 3-1 season record over RGV. The Vipers won 133-123 at Iowa on Dec. 8, but fell twice at Iowa Jan. 12, 135-112 and March 9, 113-112. Then, Iowa topped RGV 145-111 at State Farm Arena on March 26. The Vipers hold a record of 13-9 over seven seasons against the Energy. Overall, RGV is 6-4 against Iowa at State Farm Arena and is 7-5 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Iowa and RGV previously met in the playoffs during round three of the 2010-11 season. The Energy, led by former RGV head coach Nick Nurse, went 2-1 against the Vipers to win the Championship series.
First round playoff tickets will go on sale Monday, April 7, and will be available at the Vipers Pro Shop at Uptown Plaza or online at Ticketmaster.com. For more information, call the Vipers at 956-972-1144.
Dates and times for the best-of-three semifinals have yet to be determined and will be announced when they are available. The semifinals and finals will follow the same format as the first round. A broadcast schedule for the first round will be announced in the coming days.
