Field Set for 2014 NBA Development League Playoffs

April 6, 2014 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK - The eight-team field for the 2014 NBA Development League playoffs was set on Saturday with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (34-16), Los Angeles D-Fenders (31-19), Iowa Energy (31-19), Sioux Falls Skyforce (31-19), Rio Grande Valley Vipers (30-20), Santa Cruz Warriors (29-21), Canton Charge (28-22) and Reno Bighorns (27-23) advancing to the postseason.

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Los Angeles D-Fenders, and Iowa Energy finished the season atop the East, West and Central Divisions, respectively, while the remaining five teams earned playoff bids as "wild card" entrants. Seeding for the three-round postseason is done based on regular season record, with the best-of-three series beginning on the lower seed's home court in each round.

The three Division Winners (Fort Wayne, Iowa and Los Angeles) will once again select their first round playoff opponent among the four wild card teams with the worst regular season records. Sioux Falls advanced to the postseason as the wild card team with the best regular season record and is ineligible to be selected by the Division Winners. The Skyforce will face the remaining unselected wild card team in the first round of the 2014 NBA D-League playoffs.

The 2014 NBA D-League playoffs will begin no earlier than Wednesday, April 9, with a full schedule to be announced on Sunday, April 6, following the pick-your-opponent selection teleconference.
