
NJ/NY Gotham FC's Estelle Johnson Headed for International Duty

NJ/NY Gotham FC News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - NJ/NY Gotham FC defender Estelle Johnson has been invited to camp with the Cameroon National team ahead of the 2022 Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The event will run from July 2-23 with camps slated for Yaoundé and Paris leading up to the tournament.
The top four finishers in the tournament will qualify for the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand and two more teams will advance to the inter-confederation playoffs. Nigeria are the three-time defending champions, having won the tournament in 2014, 2016 and 2018.
Johnson has been a regular in the Cameroon player pool since 2019 when she played in four matches during the 2019 World Cup. Most recently, she participated in Olympic Qualifiers in 2021. The center back has started all four games for Gotham FC during the regular season, logging 359 minutes.
Gotham FC is back in action Saturday, June 11 when they travel to the KC Current. Kickoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. ET. Fans can also catch all the action live on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Twitch internationally.
