NJ/NY Gotham FC News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - NJ/NY Gotham FC travels to Lynn Family Stadium to take on Racing Louisville FC this Friday, October 1. The match will be presented to Gotham FC fans by NJM and is to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET. It will be streamed exclusively on Twitch for both U.S.-based and international viewers.
Gotham FC will enter Friday's match on a two game unbeaten run following a scoreless draw against the Chicago Red Stars at home on September 4, prior to the league's international break. Then, Gotham FC returned to beat the North Carolina Courage 3-1 on Sept. 25. The win -- Gotham FC's fourth at Red Bull Arena this season -- featured three unanswered goals from the home side, including a Carli Lloyd penalty kick and comeback goals for Margaret "Midge" Purce and Paige Monaghan, both of whom missed much of the past two months due to injury. The victory also marked the second result under the leadership of Head Coach Scott Parkinson.
Racing Louisville enters Friday's match coming off a 0-4 home loss to the Houston Dash on Sept. 26. It was the expansion side's first match without attacker Nadia Nadim, who tore her ACL earlier this month, and the team's third under the direction of interim coach Mario Sanchez.
This will be the second of three regular season matchups between the two teams. On August 15, Gotham FC came back with a late equalizer from team leading scorer Ifeoma Onumonu after Nadim opened the scoring at Red Bull Arena in the 13th minute. The 83rd minute goal -- scored from distance and in heavy traffic -- salvaged a point and earned Onumonu Budweiser Player of the Week honors for Week 13.
Next, the team will travel to Subaru Park in Chester, Penn. for Carli Lloyd's Hometown Farewell Match against the Washington Spirit on Wednesday, Oct. 6. The match was relocated from Red Bull Arena to the Philadelphia area to celebrate Lloyd's illustrious career in front of a hometown crowd. Gotham FC and Racing Louisville will meet for a third time at Red Bull Arena in the last match of the NWSL regular season on Oct. 31. Tickets for both matches are still available.
