Reno Silver Sox News Release
As has been the case in St. George this year, Friday?s game featured a lot of runs and a Silver Sox victory.
Winning 13-6, Reno has now defeated The St. George Roadrunners all nine times the two teams have met this year. Reno starting pitcher Jason Martinez pitched 5.2 innings allowing six runs on nine hits earning his second victory of the year in his 14th appearance.
The Silver Sox bats came alive early off of Roadrunner starting pitcher Cody Reed who lasted only a third of an inning. CF Victor Hall led the game off with a solo home run, his fifth of the year. Minutes later DH Juan Senreiso followed suit with a two-run shot, giving him five on the year. Also in the first inning 1B Ryan Brown hit his third home run of the year and LF Kane Simmons hit his sixth.
Reno scored a total of six runs in the first and added two more in the second. However they would not score again until the ninth when Anthony Pluta took the mound for St. George.
Pluta came in throwing very hard, but with little control, walking six Reno hitters in one inning of work. Simmons singled in another run in the that inning, and the Sox scored five times to earn their 15th win of the season.
Game two a four game series will be Saturday night, all the coverage can be heard on the radio on ESPN Radio 630 and streaming live here at silversoxbaseball.com.
The Silver Sox return home Tuesday to face Chico.
