Five Wranglers Selected to Texas League All-Star Team

Five Wichita Wranglers players were named to the Texas League Eastern Division All-Star team; Infielders Justin Huber and Mike Aviles, Outfielder Cory Aldridge, Starting Pitcher Kyle Middleton and reliever Shawn Sonnier. Both Huber and Aldridge were selected at starters, with Aviles being selected as a reserve player. This year's Texas League All-Star Game will take place on Tuesday, June 21st at Frisco's Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up Ballpark.

Kyle Middleton and Shawn Sonnier and infield reserve Mike Aviles were also named to the team.

Huber currently leads the Wranglers with his .321 batting average and his .421 on-base percentage. This is Huber's first season to play first base, making the move from catcher after he suffered a knee injury last year. He was traded to the Royals from the Mets in July 2004 for IF Jose Bautista.

Aldridge currently leads the Texas League with 13 home runs and ranks third with 43 RBI. He was named the Texas League Player of the Week May 16-22, hitting at a .333 clip with four home runs. This is Aldridge's second season with Wichita, batting .239 last year with 18 home runs, after signing with the Royals at the end of May. Aldridge saw Major League time with the Atlanta Braves in 2001.

Middleton (6-4) currently ranks second in the league in innings (80.0) while his 2.70 ERA ranks him fourth. He has been the number one starter for the Wranglers all season. Middleton was named the Texas League Pitcher of the Week May 23-29 after going 2-0 with a complete game that week. Middleton spent the 2004 season with the Wranglers, posting an 8-8 record with a 4.74 ERA.

Sonnier (3-0, 3 saves) has been on fire lately, striking out nine in his last two outings (4.1 innings), and striking out 38 over his 25 innings with Wichita. He has only been with the Wranglers since May 2 when he was sent down from Omaha. Sonnier pitched for Midland last year, posting a 3-3 record with a 2.95 ERA. He was signed by the Royals as a minor league free agent on January 13, 2005.

Aviles is currently batting .281 with 16 doubles and 33 RBI. He was named Wilmington's Player of the Year last year after batting .300 with 40 doubles, which was a new franchise record. Aviles was a 7th round draft pick of the Royals in 2003.

All seats to the 2005 Texas League All-Star Game are sold-out; however General Admission grass seats are available by calling Frisco's Dr. Pepper/Seven-Up Ballpark or via Ticketmaster.

Prairie State Bank & the Wranglers Rewarding Good Grades

The first annual Prairie State Bank Report Card Rewards Night will take place on Friday, June 17th during the Wranglers game vs. the Arkansas Travelers. If you're a kid 14 and under and you received all A's & B's on one of your report cards during the 2004-2005 School Year, bring your report card to the Wrangler ticket office or to a Prairie State Bank location to receive a free ticket to the June 17th game. It pays to do well in school with Prairie State Bank and the Wichita Wranglers!

Play Catch with Dad at LDS on Father's Day

Not sure what to get Dad for Father's Day this year? Bring him down to the Wranglers game! And don't forget your glove! We'll be giving away Wrangler Logo balls to the first 1,000 fans through the gates, courtesy of Sonic America's Drive-In. Stick around after the game to play catch on the field with dad. We can't think of a better way to say thanks to your dad for all the great things he does for you during the year than by taking him to a great baseball game and playing catch with him on the field after the game!

Great Group and Skybox Opportunities Still Available

There are still plenty of opportunities to bring your group out to Lawrence-Dumont Stadium this summer. Along with our great group outing rates, we have limited dates available for luxury skyboxes as well as the new and improved Open Range Patio.

Regular group rates start at just $4.00 per person for 20 people or more. For slightly larger groups, we have three delicious buffet options, our two-meat, three-meat and four-meat buffets. Buffets start at just $11 per person and include all-u-can-eat food as well as your ticket to the game.

Skybox dates are filling up fast; however there are still some prime dates available. Skyboxes are perfect for entertaining clients or family & friends. Enjoy the game in air conditioned comfort with the added benefit of a full wait-staff, TV and stadium intercom, and great views from indoor or outside. Skyboxes start at $400.00 for 20 people.

If you have more than 20 people but are looking for the exclusivity of a skybox, look no further than our Open Range Patio. Formerly the Open Air Patio, the ORP is an outdoor deck located on the third base line that seats 30 people; prices start at $300.00. With the ORP you are privy to the same service and conveniences as our skybox patrons in a completely outdoor setting.

No matter which option you choose, we guarantee you'll have a good time at a Wranglers game! Call the Front Office at (316) 267-3372 for questions on any of our group outing options and for reservations.
