Nik Stauskas Earns Team-High 29 Points, Leads Gold to Win over Wolves

DES MOINES, IA - The Grand Rapids Gold (2-2) topped the Iowa Wolves (3-1) with a final score of 121-110.

The Wolves tried to make a comeback from a 25-point deficit in the third by hustling up a 9-0 run to begin the fourth, but the home team wasn't able to maintain that momentum despite getting within two possessions of a tie with minutes left in regulation. The Gold extended their lead with a 7-0 run late in the fourth to eventually push the overall lead to 11 points.

The Gold had impressive performances across the roster, with huge performances from the dynamic trio of Stauskas, Reed and Stephenson. Nik Stauskas earned a game-high 29 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 steals. Davon Reed followed up with a solid double-double, earning 22 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. NBA veteran Lance Stephenson added a second double-double for the team, tallying 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Giorgi Bezhanishvili contributed a third team double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Other Gold players in double digits were Matt Ryan (16 pts, 3 rebs, 2 assists), D.J. Johnson (14 pts, 3 rebs, 2 stls and 2 blks).

Isaiah Miller was a bright spot for the Wolves, earning a double-double with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists. Timberwolves two-way player McKinley Wright IV also commanded the court with 26 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Other Wolves in double digits were Brian Bowen II (19 pts, 6 rebs) and Matt Lewis (13 pts, 2 stls).
