HARTFORD- In their second meeting of the 2016 New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) season, the Upper Valley Nighthawks topped the Vermont Mountaineers 6-4 at The Maxfield Sports Complex in Hartford on Saturday.
Vermont got four strong innings out of starter Joe Rocchietti (Green Brook, N.J. / Manhattan), who allowed just one earned run on four hits, while striking out two. Nighthawks starter Dakota Edwards (Turlock, C.A. / Bridgport) went just 2 and a third innings, while allowing four runs on six hits.
The Mountaineers struck first, scoring a run in the second thanks to an RBI-single by Gabe Levanti (Ashland, M.A./Le Moyne). Vermont promptly tacked on three more in the top of the third.
