Nighthawks silence Sound, 128-115

Rockville, MD -- Andrew "Spongebob" Washington lifted the Maryland Nighthawks to a come from behind victory over the first place Strong Island Sound.

Washington scored 12 of his team high 24 points in the fourth quarter, pulled down nine rebounds, and had a season high five assists, as Maryland won 128-115 over the Strong Island Sound on Sunday.

Randy "White Chocolate" Gill had another strong home performance adding 21 points and seven rebounds in 22 minutes of action for the Nighthawks, who won their third straight game and got over the .500 mark for the first time since they were 2-1.

Strong Island led as many as nine points early and led after the first quarter, 33-30.

Maryland shot 58% from the field in the second quarter went ahead 61-59 at the half, then held the Sound to 7-of-20 shooting from the field in the fourth quarter and outscored the Sound by 11 points in the final 9:20 of the game.

Strong Island had three players that scored over 20 points, Gregory Plummer (game high 26 points), Chris Grant (20), and Miguel Milliem (20).

The Nighthawks have 26 day off until their next game, when they host the Strong Island Sound on Friday, January 7 at 7:05 pm. Maryland leads the season series 2-1.
