Nick Miller Named Rawlings CPL Pitcher of the Week

EDENTON, N.C - The Coastal Plain League announced today that Edenton's Nick Miller has been named the Rawlings Pitcher of the Week for week six of CPL action.

Miller, a 6-5, 205-pound junior at the University of Northern Colorado earned the weekly league honor for his start in Wilmington on July 4th. Miller tossed a complete game shut-out against the Sharks, allowing eight hits, and one walk while striking out three in the 4-0 Steamers win. The win improved Miller's record to 3-0 on the season and his 0.53 ERA is good for second in the league in the category. The honor is the second award Miller has been tagged with this summer, after having been named a CPL All-Star just last week.

The Loveland, Colo., native is a two-way player for the Bears and finished his 2013 spring with a 6-4 record in 13 appearances, all as a starter. He allowed 83 hits and 47 runs (36 earned), to go along with 23 walks to 50 strikeouts in 70.2 innings on the mound and a 4.58 ERA.

With his selection Miller becomes the first Steamer pitcher selected this summer for the award and the 18th hurler in franchise history to earn the weekly honor. He joins Steamer Josh Hampton, who was selected as the CPL's Hitter of the Week for week one.
