StriKing Out Cancer Night Returns For 7th Year

The Fayetteville SwampDogs and Cape Fear Valley Health System are teaming up once again for the 7th Annual StriKing Out Cancer Night, offering fans the chance to bid on one-of-a-kind pink SwampDogs jersey's that will be auctioned off. Winning bids will receive commemorative game-worn jerseys from the SwampDogs players and coaches while the second highest bids will receive replica jerseys. The minimum bid at the auction is $75.

The StriKing Out Cancer Night will be held on Thursday, July 25th when the SwampDogs face the Gastonia Grizzlies at 7:05 p.m. Fans have until the final out to place their bids on the SwampDogs' jerseys and the winners will get their game-worn jersey following the game.

"We're exctied to continue to partner with Cape Fear Valley Health System on this tremendous event," General Manager Jeremy Aagard said. "Year after year, it continues to benefit the residents of our community. There are very few people left untouched by cancer so this event continues to be important for many people throughout the area. It's an honor to be able to give back to our community in this way."

In 2012, StriKing Out Cancer Night raised close to $7,000 to benefit cancer patients in the Fayetteville area. With the fans help, the SwampDogs look to grow that total this year.

Fans who want to get a head start on the process can place an early bid online by clicking the StriKing Out Cancer story on the SwampDogs website home page starting on Friday, July 12th. Fans can take a glance at the SwampDogs roster and coaching staff and place an early bid on their favorite player(s) and/or coach(es).
