Omaha Lancers News Release
Ralston, NE - Omaha Lancers first-year defenseman Nick Jenny announced today he has committed to play collegiate ice hockey at Robert Morris University. The Colonials are back-to-back Atlantic Hockey regular season champions. Jenny becomes the 17th member of this year's current roster to be committed.
"After seeing the campus and meeting the coaching staff, I knew I wanted to be a part of Robert Morris University's growing tradition," said Jenny. "I chose the Colonials for their prestigious business school, and to not only further develop my skills as an individual hockey player, but also as a teammate."
In his first year in Omaha, the Lancers' 11th overall draft pick in 2015 has two goals and nine assists in 46 games played. Jenny's first career USHL goal came in a 5-3 victory over the Sioux Falls Stampede on January 16th. However, his most notable tally was in overtime on February 12th in a 3-2 win over the Madison Capitols. Jenny sent in a one-timer from the left wing circle off a pass from Josh French.
"We're very happy to see Nick earn this commitment," said Lancers head coach Brian Kaufman. "Robert Morris University is exactly what Nick was looking for both athletically and academically. We wish him the best of luck."
For the second year in the row, the Robert Morris University Colonials captured the Atlantic Hockey regular season championship with an 18-6-4 record in the conference, along with an overall record of 21-9-4. In 2014, Robert Morris University won its first Atlantic Hockey playoff championship with a 7-4 victory over the Canisius Golden Griffins.
Jenny, an Ohio native, says he couldn't have done it without the support of the Lancers coaching staff. "From the coaching staff to the front office, the Omaha Lancers have been unbelievably supportive in helping me every step of the way this year."
The Lancers return to Ralston Arena this Friday and Saturday night as they host the Green Bay Gamblers at 7:05 p.m. CT. Can't make it? Fans can listen live to the game beginning at 6:50 p.m. CT with the Valpak Pregame Show on "The Mighty" 1290 KOIL, Mighty 1290 KOIL Mobile APP, www.mighty1290koil.com, and www.FASTHockey.com.
