The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 24 of the 2015-16 season. It was a clean sweep for the league-leading Cedar Rapids RoughRiders with Ross Colton, Jack Ahcan and Ben Blacker taking home weekly honors after a perfect 3-0-0-0 week. CCM Hockey is the official equipment partner of the USHL.
Forward: Ross Colton - Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
3 GP: 2 goals, 4 assists, +7 rating
Colton won his first USHL Forward of the Week award this season after an impressive six-point week. The USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game MVP is currently tied for second in USHL scoring with 54 points in 44 games, and ranks second in goals scored with 28 after tallying twice this weekend. Colton is currently on a six-game point streak, scoring six goals and adding four assists over the span. Friday's two-point night was his 15th multi-point game this season. The Robbinsville, NJ native is skating in his second USHL season after scoring 33 points in 58 games last year. The University of Vermont commit was selected by Cedar Rapids in the 2014 USHL Phase II Draft in the 11th round, 179th overall and previously played for Taft School (USHS), New Jersey Rockets (AYHL) and Mercer Chiefs (AYHL).
Defenseman: Jack Ahcan - Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
3 GP: 2 goals, 1 assist, +5 rating
Ahcan won his first USHL Defenseman of the Week award after scoring twice over the weekend, both game-winning goals. The Savage, MN native added an assist earlier in the week and is currently riding a six-game point streak. Ahcan is skating in his first USHL season and currently leads all defensemen in scoring with 37 points in 45 games, and is second in goals scored by defensemen with 12. The St. Cloud State University commit was selected by Cedar Rapids in the 2013 USHL Phase I Draft in the 8th round, 110th overall and previously played for Burnsville High (USHS).
Goaltender: Ben Blacker - Cedar Rapids RoughRiders
3-0-0-0, 0.67 GAA, .974 SV%
Blacker won his third USHL Goaltender of the Week award this season after posting two shutouts and three wins last week. Blacker stopped all 23 shots he faced against Muskegon earlier in the week, prior to back-to-back wins on the road, extending his win streak to six games. After his 31-save shutout Saturday, Blacker improved his record to 15-6-1-1 when facing 30+ shots in games this season. The Oakville, ON native leads the USHL in wins (29), shutouts (5), minutes (2459), ranks third in save percentage (.927) and third in goals against average (2.20). Blacker is one win away from becoming the first 30-win USHL goaltender since Charlie Lindgren (Sioux Falls Stampede) during the 2012-13 season. Blacker is playing in his second USHL season after going 24-11-0-2 with a 2.73 GAA and .913 SV% last year. The Western Michigan University commit was selected by the Indiana Ice in the 2013 USHL Phase I Draft in the 4th round, 46th overall and previously played for the Milton Icehawks (OJHL) and Brampton 45's Midget AAA.
