ALBANY, NY - Nick Dodge scored the game-winning goal with 51 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Albany River Rats to a 4-3 victory in Game 1 of their first round divisional series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday night at the Times Union Center.

The Penguins battled back from a 3-1 deficit in the third period and knotted the game on Nick Johnson's second goal of the night at 18:38. Moments away from a sudden death overtime session, River Rats forward Chris Terry carried the puck across the blue line on a 3-on-2 rush and saw his centering pass deflect to Dodge, who swept his second goal of the game past sprawling goaltender Brad Thiessen for the deciding tally.

Jacob Micflikier also enjoyed a two-point night for the River Rats with a goal and one assist, while Terry chipped in a pair of assists in a winning effort.

The River Rats broke open a 1-1 game midway through the second period with two goals in 36 seconds. Dodge poked home his first of the game on a rebound from Terry at 9:55, and Jamie McBain connected on a blast from the point at 10:31 off of a faceoff won by Micflikier.

Micflikier put the River Rats on the board with the game's first goal at 10:01 of the opening frame, knocking in a rebound from Oskar Osala. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton leveled the score at 1-1 just 2:25 later on a shorthanded, unassisted breakaway tally from Johnson.

River Rats goalie Justin Peters stopped 30-of-33 shots faced in the game and earned the win in his Calder Cup Playoffs debut. Penguins netminder Brad Thiessen allowed four goals on 38 shots and took the loss. Albany out-shot Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 38-33 in the game and went 0-for-5 on the power play, while the Penguins went 1-for-6 on the man-advantage.

The clubs next square off in Game 2 of their best-of-seven, first round series on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. in Albany. 2010 Calder Cup playoff packages are now on sale at the River Rats executive offices at the Times Union Center, by calling (518) 487-2244 or by logging onto www.albanyriverrats.com.
