Another week of games is in the books, and after a long stretch of road games the Dogs returned home Thursday night to face off against the second place Saginaw Spirit. Spurred on by the home crowd, the players came out of the gates hot and held a 1-0 lead after the first period on Anthony Agostinelli's first of the year! 2 quick Saginaw goals in the second were not enough to deter the Dogs, as they responded near the end of the period to tie the game at two heading into the final frame. Unfortunately, the Spirit took a 3-2 lead with just over 10 minutes to go and were able to hang on for the narrow victory. Goalie Owen Flores made 31 stops in the loss.
The IceDogs faced a quick turnaround, travelling to Guelph to play the Storm on Friday night. It was another back and forth affair, but the Dogs came up just short in a 6-4 thriller. Next up is a week off from games before another back-to-back at home on Friday the 25th and Saturday the 26th! Barrie visits the Meridian Centre on Friday night, before North Bay rolls into town on Saturday night. Both games at 7:00pm!
