NHL Main Camps Open for Saginaw Spirit Skaters

The Saginaw Spirit will be well represented as NHL Main Camps get underway this week. A total of ten players with ties to the Spirit are graduating from their now completed rookie camps. Former Spirit Captain Jordan Szwarz (Phoenix Coyotes) and Ben Chiarot (Winnipeg Jets) are eligible for overage seasons but both have signed National Hockey League contracts, and are expected to play pro this season. The main camp invitation list also includes 2010 NHL drafted skaters Brandon Archibald (Columbus Blue Jackets), and John McFarland (Florida Panthers), 2011 selections Jamie Oleksiak (Dallas Stars), Brandon Saad (Chicago Blackhawks) Vince Trocheck (Florida Panthers), Anthony Camara (Boston Bruins), and Josh Shalla (Nashville Predators). Garret Ross will be attending the Washington Capitals camp as an invite.

The Spirit will conclude their exhibition schedule Saturday, September 17 vs. The Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at 7:11 at the Dow Event Center with all tickets priced at 7 dollars. The Spirit 2011/12 regular season opener is slated for Friday, September 23 as they travel to London to meet the Knights. Home opening weekend is scheduled for Friday, September 30 against the Kitchener Rangers and Saturday, October 1 when they play host to the Ottawa 67's in a game that will feature the raising of the banner acknowledging the Spirit's 2010/11 West Division Regular Season Title.
