Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce the signing of defenseman Chris McAllister; per team policy the terms of the contract will be undisclosed.

At 6'7" and 240 pounds, McAllister will bring an intimidating presence to the K-Wings lineup. McAllister joins the K-Wings after spending last season in the American Hockey League with the San Antonio Rampage.

Fans remember McAllister for his tenacious style of play that tormented opposing players in the National Hockey League for ten seasons. The native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2nd round (40th overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

"Chris brings size, strength, and experience to our blue line," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "To add a player of his caliber to our already talented defense will only strengthen our defensive corps."

The 13-year pro embarked on his professional career in the 1995-96 season with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League. After three seasons in Syracuse, McAllister was called-up to Vancouver. In his 301-game NHL tenure, McAllister spent time with the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers.

McAllister is joining the stingiest defense in the UHL. The K-Wings lead the league with fewest goals allowed (1) and goals against average (0.50).

The K-Wings next hit the ice this Saturday, October 21st, for the home opener against the Flint Generals. The K-Wings will raise their championship banners and unveil their Colonial Cup Championship rings during a ceremony prior to the 7:30 p.m. face-off, which includes fireworks. All fans in attendance will receive a FREE magnetic schedule courtesy of Meijer.

Tickets for the home opener and all K-Wing home games are available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during the regular business hours of Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can receive their tickets by calling the (269) 345-5101 or logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
